There still remains a large proportion of WHITE South Africans who do not think that they came to Africa (ancestrally that is). And we know the harm they did to natives (if not, they were guilt of silence and continuously voting IN the National Party.) They consider themselves indigenous to Africa, which is factually incorrect -most came from Netherlands/Holland and the UK countries.
Yes, South Africa was the Khoi-San's. When Bantus came almost a 1 000 years ago, they showed no hostility to Khoi-San people but had inevitable conflicts -nothing major.
Yet Europeans, now adopted as Africans, have been here for almost 300 years and the Khoi-San are almost extinct, if not already, because the left descendants are a result of intermarriages with the Malay, Cape-coloureds, Xhosa (there are 3 Xhosa sub-tribes from such marriages, I'm from the 3rd one) and other nationalities.
They also placed the heaviest yoke on Blacks, expropriating land and forcefully taking cattle. Even before Apartheid there were policies that were set to oppress indigenous Africans.
Anyway, today some claim to have worked HARD to be where they are, when I consider them to have not. Working HARD is living in a shacking sharing it with your extended family and going to school barefooted and living on a pensioner's income (even the poorest of Whites knows no such conditions). When asked about being racist, most say "I am not racist, I have black friends" We know that 'Ou misses' liked her black maids and sometimes considered them friends but she thought they were less human than her because of their skin colour.
And those who had a sjambok on a Blackman's ass, are still alive and well. Even the ones who were businessman, academics etc. who kept quiet and benefited from INHUMANE activities have families today. So a lot of Whites are implicitly racist, I would say because the ANC did not win by a 100% in 1994. Where are those ones who voted for the National Party?
I do understand BLACKs' resentment towards Whites because who would not hate someone who came to their home, took everything and then said: "Let's share everything equally, but you must have the toilet where you've been sleeping. Then let's work together to extend this house (for the figuratively challenged: grow the economy) and we will share."
White supremacy is very much alive in South Africa (in academia and all enriching industries). The outburst of Blacks are a result of injustices like those demonstrated in the analogy above which are still beneficial to the present day Whites. The damage of BEE is not even by a slight inch comparable to this.
We must be honest, 20 years is nothing compared to almost 200 years of discrimination. It's the people who wake up every morning and put their energy to working and not complaining who are building this country from the ashes. I am afraid people like Julius Malema (or EFF) don't pop in to mind when I think of that.
These are people who are not ignorant to the SA statistics.
On average a white person earns six-times the black's average income; proportionally whites live in good suburbs and blacks on terrible townships; proportionally white students are most likely to get tertiary education because of financial ability and good high-schools (the ANC is to blame for terrible schools) and many more economic and social differences. That does not ring Mamphela Ramphela's Agang SA.
With non-colour-neutral politics in South Africa, I believe compromises should be made. Who would expect a 7 years old to understand Quantum Physics? Now the DA is not willing to back down on areas that the majority is not comfortable, at this stage, with. An even blacker executive leadership, even having a black presidency candidate, and more past-injustices-rectifying policies would do more good than harm. Unless they are content with the slow growth in votes which means they'll be in the national leader after Jesus' Second Coming (as our president once claimed the ANC to lead until).
Regression comes through ignorance and lack of discernment of current times. It is perpetuated by corruption, nepotism and governing of illiterate people (even fools at times). The who-stayed-for-how-long-in-exile-or-Robben-Island and factions politics are the self-devouring chemicals of the ANC.
The lack of critical thinking in the population is actually the most dangerous issue. It's easy to convince people that you are doing something right than to FACTUALLY prove that you are actually making them even worse. Now that we cannot blame any political party for, even though they use them to their advantage. We need to blame the population for laziness and complacence with being uneducated
